International Conference on News Flows in Asia shall be held on August 28 in Seoul, South Korea. This conference will highlight emerging trends and orders in the flow of news in Asia and to explore the cooperative possibilities among news agencies in the region.

Recently, Asia has been quite dynamically activating so enough to just calling "Age of Asia" has become a cliché There’s a general consensus that the coming century will likely belong to Asia. Rapid economic growth among many East and Southeast Asian countries has contributed to engendering this view in the world arena, where previously, the West had dominated for centuries. In recent years, economic cooperation effortin Asia has gained momentum, which in turn enhanced foreign direct investment and greater movement of labor within the region. Such an economic cooperation, trade and exchange in Asia has been coincident with a broader open-door policy, increased diplomatic relationship and intertwined cultural and social networks among Asian countries.

Notwithstanding the arrival of Age of Asia, media critics have said that Asia news has been and continues to be conveyed to Asians through the lenses of western and global media. There is also criticism that even Asia’s own media outlets do not procure enough "Asian issue" news and information. The critics also point out that reports on Asia have been superficial and often negative.

From this perspective, International Conference on News Flows in Asia aims to provide a forum to explore new phenomena and trends in the news flows in Asia. The conference will afford an opportunity to stimulate and exchange different views and also help facilitate better understanding of Asia’s journalism and news agency systems.
